The life of the poet Somadeva needs to be well aware by scholars. However, it can be traced that he was the son of Rāma, a Śaiva Brāhman of Kashmir.
Somadeva's prodigy is prized in intertwining the separate, often unrelated, stories within the main level to create a work that engrosses and enchants from the start. This is proved in Kathāsaritsāgara, which takes the reader's cognisance and attracts them to the literature to understand life and its expeditions. Such contribution of Somadeva towards Sanskrit literature is phenomenal.
